People before profit
What we stand for
Tasmanian Socialists are a new electoral party shaking up politics as usual in Tasmania. We intend to rebuild a fighting socialist movement and an anti-capitalist alternative to the major parties. We stand with every struggle for workers’ rights, affordable housing and economic equality, climate justice, against racism and war, gender equality, and for a future where working-class people have the power to shape a better world.

Tasmania desperately needs a political force that stands up to those in power and actually represents the people who are fighting back.
We have a Liberal government that is clinging onto power despite not holding a majority since 2023 and three elections, and we have an ineffective opposition in Labor - a party so divided that it will never be able to win an election.
The Tasmanian public service - including healthcare and education - is at breaking point. Public schools are underfunded and hospitals are screaming for resources, but the Liberal government is ignoring this crisis.
The proposed Hobart stadium pushed through Tasmanian state parliament by both Liberals and Labor represents the biggest transfer of public funds into private hands that this state has ever seen.
There has never been a better time for a new party - one that truly represents working-class Tasmanians - to come in and take our place at the table. That's why we're taking inspiration from the Victorian Socialists and building a political force in this state that puts people before profit and fights for the rights of workers and the oppressed.
